A complete beginner can. The city does have a serious scene - the City Chess Centre on Sovetskaya, for one - but our evenings are about meeting people and atmosphere rather than about ratings. We will explain the rules on the spot if you have forgotten how the knight moves.
I am not from IT - will there be anyone for me to play?›
Yes. The core of the audience is 22-40: programmers, entrepreneurs and students from the city's three universities. Over the board your line of work quickly stops meaning anything - what remains is the game and the conversation after it.

Do you need to be good at chess?›
Knowing how the pieces move is enough. The Swiss system will bring you an opponent of your own strength by itself, so there will be no rout. If you have forgotten the rules, the host will briefly go over them before the first round.
