Tournament boards, clocks and everything else, delivered and collected by us
Most of the time the equipment isn't needed on its own but together with someone to run the evening: set everything up, explain the rules, do the pairings and score the results. That's how we work by default: we arrive with everything needed and leave when the evening is over.
If you need rental only, without us, get in touch anyway: we'll tell you straight whether it works for your date. Below is what people ask about more often than price: how many sets to get and what's in them.
The most common mistake is counting sets by the number of invited guests. Count by the number of people playing at the same time: at a party that's usually a quarter of the guests, at a tournament it's everyone.
4-8 sets. Fits in a meeting room, and the equipment travels in two bags
10-20 sets. You need a hall or an open-plan space, and unloading already needs room by the entrance
25-50 sets. This is a full-scale tournament: you need table numbers, a host and scoring
5-10 sets for the whole evening. Count by the number of simultaneous games, not by the number of guests
Tournament size, not souvenir size: on a small board adult fingers keep knocking over neighbouring pieces
Mechanical or digital. You can't play blitz without them, and blitz is exactly what makes the evening lively
Only needed if you want to record the games. At a corporate party they're usually unnecessary, at a serious tournament they're a must
With twenty boards and no numbers, people get lost between rounds. It's a small thing people remember too late
What exactly to get, and how tournament equipment differs from what you find in shops: boards and clocks. Schools have their own list: equipment for a classroom.
Tell us what the event is, how many guests, the address in Moscow and whether you need a host. We'll reply the same day with the number of sets and a price. If a different format would suit your event better, we'll tell you that too.
Our standard option is equipment plus hosting: we bring everything, run the evening and score the results. Equipment-only rental is discussed separately and depends on the date and the number of sets. Get in touch and we'll tell you straight whether it will work.
Count one set per two players. For a tournament, go by the number of participants; for an open zone at a party, go by the number of people playing at the same time, which is usually a quarter of the guests.
Yes, we deliver and collect: it's part of the job. For addresses beyond the MKAD we leave with time to spare, and for buildings with strict security we need a guest list for the front desk in advance.
If people are just playing casually, not necessarily. But clocks are what turn long, thoughtful games into quick, fun ones, so at corporate events they're almost always included.
Tournament ones: a folding board, weighted pieces and a size where your hand doesn't stray onto the next square. Souvenir and glass sets are no good for playing, however nice they look in photos.
At an evening with our host, that's our concern: we check that every set is complete. Terms for rental without us are discussed separately when you book.
That's a different format and different equipment. Tell us about the venue and the occasion, and we'll say whether we can help or point you to someone who can.
Usually it's sorted within a few days. The one tricky period is December, when dates and equipment are booked up well in advance.
A turnkey evening instead of bare equipment: corporate chess tournaments in Moscow and team building. In your own office: office tournament. December: New Year corporate party. An interactive for a stand or an evening: chess robot rental. Running it yourselves: how to organize a tournament and the organizer's checklist.
