The Dragon arises in the Sicilian after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 (ECO B70). Black fianchettoes the bishop on g7, and its long a1-h8 diagonal is what gives the position its dragon character.
It is one of the sharpest openings there is: in the main line (the Yugoslav Attack) White castles long and storms with the h- and g-pawns while Black counter-attacks down the c-file and the long diagonal. The play runs head-on and draws are few.
The Dragon demands exact knowledge - one wrong tempo settles the game. It is a weapon for the brave: either Black gets to the king first, or Black gets crushed.
Drag a piece onto the board, or click a piece and then click the squares. The cross beside the pieces sweeps every piece of that colour off the board, and a single piece can be dragged off the edge.
The pieces will be arranged into the chosen pattern.
