White to move, mate in one. This is the basic queen mate: the lone black king has been driven into the corner and White's king is already up in support.
The black king is on h8. The white king on g6 holds g7 and h7, and the queen stands on a2 - the whole eighth rank is clear.
The solution is Qa8 mate. The queen goes to a8 and mates along the eighth rank; the king cannot move, because g7 and h7 are controlled by the white king. Note: until the enemy king is pressed against the edge, moves like this can easily produce stalemate instead of mate.
