The Brinckmann Attack arises in the Grunfeld after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Bf4 (ECO D82). White develops the bishop to the active f4 square straight away, in no hurry to exchange in the centre.
The idea is quick development and pressure on the queenside and on c7, while White keeps the centre flexible. Black replies with the typical Grunfeld pressure along the long diagonal and the ...c5 break.
The Brinckmann Attack is a sturdy, not especially theoretical system against the Grunfeld that backs quick, harmonious piece development.
